Writing Women's Lives – Faversham Literary Festival

  • Shepherd Neame Visitor Centre 11 Court Street Faversham ME13 7AX (map)

Inspired by the life of Minnette de Silva – a forgotten feminist icon and one of the most important figures of 20th-century architecture – Shiromi Pinto charts de Silva's affair with infamous Swiss modernist Le Corbusier and her efforts to build an independent Sri Lanka.Compelling and provocative, Annabel Banks’s debut short-fiction collection draws upon the human need to be in control – no matter how devastating the cost. Linda Mannheim's short-story collection tells the stories of twelve people who have relocated, both voluntarily and involuntarily and asks what happens when we leave the places we're from. What parts of our pasts are unshakeable?

Shiromi Pinto is the author of Trussed; she has written short stories for BBC Radio 4, the Victoria & Albert Museum and opendemocracy.net. Born in London and raised in Montreal, she works full-time at Amnesty International in London.

Annabel Banks is an award-winning writer of poetry and prose. Her work can be found in such places as The Manchester Review, Litro, The Stockholm Review, Under the Radar and 3:AM. She lives in London.

Linda Mannheim is the author of 'Risk' and 'Above Sugar Hill'. Her short stories are widely published; she recently launched Barbed Wire Fever, a project that explores what it means to be a refugee through writing and literature. Originally from New York, Linda divides her time between London and Berlin.
